If you watched History of Religion Part 62: Understanding the Roman Catholic Church, I spoke at lengths about the Catholic Church and their doctrine. They do not keep their beliefs secret but have placed it in a book called The Catechism of the Catholic Church which is book that provides their complete Statements of Faith.  We do not need to place our opinions about the Roman Catholic Church.  All we must do is review their doctrine and align it to the Scriptures.  So part 62 of the History of Religion series does just that.  Here are some of the Catechisms that are discussed in the video (and some more) along with Scriptural Responses.  Please review this and share this with your Catholic friends and family and ask them to place the Bible over man.  I hope this saves souls! Be blessed!

Tradition Is Equal With Scripture

The Catholic Church places the Bible at an equal level as their Tradition.

Catechism 80 on page 31 reads:Sacred Tradition and Sacred Scripture, then, are bound closely together and communicate one with the other.  For both of them, flowing out from the same divine well-spring, come together in some fashion to form one thing and move towards the same goal.”  Each of them makes present and fruitful in the Church the mystery of Christ, who promised to remain with his own “always, to the close of the age.

Scriptural Response:

Scripture has repeatedly warned us against traditions and philosophies of men.

“Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Messiah.” (Colossians 2:8)

Catechism 82 on page 31 reads:As a result the Church, to whom the transmission and interpretation of Revelation is entrusted, “does not derive her certainty about all revealed truths from the Holy Scriptures alone. Both Scripture and Tradition must be accepted and honored with EQUAL sentiments of devotion and reverence.

Scriptural Response:

The truth is that from scripture ALONE must we receive truth and instruction from Elohim.  This must be our foundation.

It is better to trust in YHWH than to put confidence in man.(Psalm 118:8)

Sanctify them by Your truth: Your word is truth. (John 17:17)

Interpretation Of The Bible Is To Be Done Only By The Pope And Bishops

The Catholic Church teaches that only the elite can understand and should read the Scriptures.

Catechism 100 on page 35 reads: The task of interpreting the Word of God authentically has been entrusted SOLELY to the Magisterium of the Church, that is, to the Pope and to the bishops in communion with him.

Scriptural Response:

There is not one scripture that supports this Catechism. Not one single person has the say so and dominance on Bible interpretation.  If you are saved, a child of Elohim, then you have the Holy Spirit residing in you, and He will teach you.  For anyone to say they are to be entrusted SOLELY to interpret the Word of Elohim is purely wicked.

“Till I come, give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.” (1 Timothy 4:13)

““knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation,” (2 Peter 1:20)

Mary is: Sinless, a Perpetual Virgin, the Mother of God, the Queen of Heaven, the Co-Redeemer with Christ

This is where we see the Mystery Babylon religion come in.  Where the Whore of Babylon seeps in to this religious dogma.

Catechism 491 on page 138 reads: Through the centuries the Church has become ever more aware that Mary, “full of grace” through God, was redeemed from the moment of her conception. That is what the dogma of the Immaculate Conception confesses, as Pope Pius IX proclaimed in 1854.

The most Blessed Virgin Mary was, from the first moment of her conception, by a singular grace and privilege of almighty God and by virtue of the merits of Jesus Christ, Savior of the human race, preserved IMMUNE from all stain of original sin.

Scriptural Response:

None are without sin.

“As it is written: “There is none righteous, no, not one; There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after Elohim. They have all turned aside; They have together become unprofitable; There is none who does good, no, not one.”” (Romans 3:10-12)

“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of Elohim,” (Romans 3:23)

Catechism 966 on page 274 reads: “Finally the Immaculate Virgin, preserved free from all stain of original sin, when the course of her earthly life was finished, was taken up body and soul into heavenly glory, and exalted by the Lord as Queen over all things, so that she might be the more fully conformed to her Son, the Lord of lords and conqueror of sin and death.” The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin is a singular participation in her Son’s Resurrection and an anticipation of the resurrection of other Christians.

In giving birth you kept your virginity; in your Dormition you did not leave the world, O Mother of God, but were joined to the source of Life.  You conceived the living God and, by your prayers, will deliver our souls from death

Scriptural Response:

Mary did not remain a virgin. Mary had more kids after Yahshua.

“Is this not the carpenter’s son? Is not His mother called Mary? And His brothers James, Joses, Simon, and Judas? And His sisters, are they not all with us? Where then did this Man get all these things?”” (Matthew 13:55 & 56)

To Catholics, Mary is the Queen of Heaven. This title goes back to the pagan Mother Goddess. You can find this title and role in the Bible as well, but it was always negative. This is paganism. The Queen of Heaven is the Whore of Babylon.

“The children gather wood, the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead dough, to make cakes for the queen of heaven; and they pour out drink offerings to other gods, that they may provoke Me to anger. Do they provoke Me to anger?” says YHWH. “ Do they not provoke themselves, to the shame of their own faces?”” (Jeremiah 7:18)

Salvation Includes The Muslims

Catechism 841 on page 242 & 243 reads: “The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creatorin the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind’s judge on the last day.”

Scriptural Response:

They are teaching that you don’t need to come through the Son. You can come to the Father through just believing in Him. And that is biblically heretical. It is blaspheme. Muslims deny the deity of the Messiah. They don’t believe Him to be the Son of Elohim, only a prophet. Not the Messiah. You can only make it to the Father through Yahshua.

“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”  (John 14:6)

The Doctrine Of The Supremacy Of The Pope

Catechism 882 on page 254 reads: The Pope, Bishop of Rome and Peter’s successor, “is the perpetual and visible source and foundation of the unity both of the bishops and of the whole company of the faithful.” “For the Roman Pontiff, by reason of his office as Vicar of Christ, and as pastor of the entire Church has FULL, SUPREME and UNIVERSAL POWER over the whole Church, a power which he can ALWAYS exercise UNHINDERED.”

Scriptural Response:

The Pope, just like all men, are wicked sinners, yet, they claim him to be the Vicar of Christ.  “Vicar is a person who acts in place of another; substitute”.  So he believes he is a substitute for the Messiah on earth. That claim is blasphemous.  Through these claims he believes he is sinless and has complete power over the whole church.

“And He (Yahshua) is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.” (Colossians 1:18)

Infants Are Born Again Through Baptism

Catechism 1250  on page 350 reads: Born with a fallen human nature and tainted by original sin, children also have need of the new birth in Baptism to be freed from the power of darkness and brought into the realm of the freedom of the children of God, to which all men are called.  The sheer gratuitousness of the grace of salvation is particularly manifest in infant Baptism.  The Church and the parents would deny a child the priceless grace of becoming a child of God were they not to confer Baptism shortly after birth.

Scriptural Response:

There are so many people that do not have the Holy Spirit because the church has falsely baptized them as an infant. You will see no scripture about infants being baptized.  Not one Scripture!  The problem is that a baby cannot believe! They are not making the decision to follow the Messiah on their own, someone else made this decision for them. This does not count.  This is a personal relationship. No one can force it on you.  The child must believe in order to be saved, so if you were baptized as an infant or a child and did not make this decision on your own, you must be rebaptized and make the decision to follow Yahshua on your own.  Parents do not baptize your child unless they have made the decision themselves.

No Scriptures because it isn’t spoke of once!

All Sins Must Be Confessed To A Priest

Catechism 1493 on page 416 reads:  One who desires to obtain reconciliation with God and with the Church, must confess to a priest all the unconfessed grave sins he remembers after having carefully examined his conscience. The confession of venial faults, without being necessary in itself, is nevertheless strongly recommended by the Church.

Scriptural Response:

I mean this is complete unscriptural.  There is not one scripture that tells us to do this. This and infant baptism are just plain examples of how Sacred traditions can be regarded above scripture. No priest can forgive you of your sins.   He did not die on the cross for you.  The priest himself, is nothing more than a sinner.  To call him Father and to confess your sins to him is not taught anywhere in Scripture.  If you sin against a brother, then you confess to Yahshua and ask for forgiveness.  This is how we are reconciled.  You do not need an intermediary to come to Yahshua.  The Holy Spirit is our intercessor.

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1stJohn 1:9)

“For there is one Elohim and one Mediator between Elohim and men, the Man Messiah Yahshua,” (1stTimothy 2:5)

Even calling the Priests Father is against scripture.

“Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven.” (Matthew 23:9)

The Church Can Forgive Sins

Catechism 982 on page 278 reads:   There is no offense, however serious, that the Church cannot forgive. “There is no one, however wicked and guilty, who may not confidently hope for forgiveness, provided his repentance is honest.   Christ who died for all men desires that in his Church the gates of forgiveness should always be open to anyone who turns away from sin.

Scriptural Response:

The church did not die for us. Yahshua died for us. The church does not have the power to forgive sins. There is only one who is able to forgive sins, Yahshua the Messiah.  This is a perversion of the gospel.

“Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Yahshua the Messiah for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” (Acts 2:38)

“To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins.”” (Acts 10:43)

All Grace Comes Through The Catholic Church

Catechism 819 on page 235 & 236 reads:  “Furthermore, many elements of sanctification and of truth” are found outside the visible confines of the Catholic Church: “the written Word of God; the life of grace; faith, hope, and charity, with the other interior gifts of the Holy Spirit, as well as visible elements”  Christ’s Spirit uses these Churches and ecclesial communities AS MEANS OF SALVATION, whose power derives from the fullness of grace and truth that Christ has entrusted to the Catholic Church. All these blessings come from Christ and lead to him, and are in themselves calls to “Catholic unity.”  All these blessings come from Christ and lead to him, and are in themselves calls to “Catholic unity.”

Scriptural Response:

They are saying that salvation comes through the “Catholic Church”.  They are teaching that if one is not a part of the Catholic Church there is no blessing for them, because the Messiah only works through the Catholic Church.  This is non scriptural!

“John bore witness of Him and cried out, saying, “This was He of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me is preferred before me, for He was before me.’ ” And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace. For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” (John 1:15-17)

Salvation Only Comes Through The Catholic Church

The Second Vatican Council’s Decree on Ecumenism explains: “For it is through Christ’s Catholic Church ALONE, which is the universal help toward salvation, that the fullness of the means of salvation can be obtained. It was to the apostolic college alone, of which Peter is the head, that we believe that our Lord entrusted all the blessings of the New Covenant, in order to establish on earth the one Body of Christ into which all those should be fully incorporated who belong in any way to the People of God.”

Catechism  846 on page 244 reads:   How are we to understand this affirmation, often repeated by the Church Fathers?  Re-formulated positively, it means that all salvation comes from Christ the Head through the Church which is his Body:

Basing itself on Scripture and Tradition, the Council teaches that the Church, a pilgrim now on earth, is necessary for salvation: the one Christ is the mediator and the way of salvation; he is present to us in his body which is the Church.  He himself explicitly asserted the necessity of faith and Baptism, and thereby affirmed at the same time the necessity of the Church which men enter through Baptism as through a door. Hence they could not be saved who, knowing that the Catholic Church was founded as necessary by God through Christ, would refuse either to enter it or to remain in it.

Scriptural Response:

The Church is “the set-apart assembly.”  It is clear through many of the catechisms of the Catholic Church they are not teaching salvation in the body of Christ but through the the Catholic Church.  They clearly state that they are basing this on Scripture and Tradition.  This is again not scriptural and goes directly against John 1:15-17 that was just mentioned above.

Doctrines of the Rosary And Prayers To Mary

Catechism 971  on page 275 reads:       “All generations will call me blessed”:  “The Church’s devotion to the Blessed Virgin IS INTRINSIC to Christian WORSHIP.” The Church rightly honors “the Blessed Virgin with special devotion.  From the most ancient times the Blessed Virgin has been honored with the title of ‘Mother of God,’ to whose protection the faithful fly in all their dangers and needs. . .  This very special devotion . . . differs essentially from adoration which is given to the incarnate Word and equally to the Father and the Holy Spirit, and greatly fosters this adoration.” The liturgical feasts dedicated to the Mother of God and Marian prayer, such as the rosary, an “epitome of the whole Gospel,” express this devotion to the Virgin Mary.

Scriptural Response:

When you bow yourself to a statue or erect a statue of Mary, and pray to her, it is WORSHIP.  All through the Old Testament you can see how YHWH hated this practice.  He is a jealous God, and will not share His glory with anyone, because He alone is worthy to accept praise and honor and worship.  This teaching is clearly unscriptural.

““You are worthy, O YHWH, To receive glory and honor and power; For You created all things, And by Your will they exist and were created.”” (Revelation 4:11)

“He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.” (Matthew 10:37)

““You shall have no other gods before Me. “You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For YHWH your Elohim, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me,”(Exodus 20:3-5)

Based upon these teachings its clear to see the wickedness in the doctrine of the Roman Catholic Church. If you have been exposed and deceived by this deception, do not be dismayed, because the Father has provided you Grace and has given you time for repentance.  Seek Him and Repent.  Pray for more discernment and diligently feed on His Word.  The time is now! Be blessed!
